The Ivy - Chelsea Garden, London

Famously known for filling the bellies of some very well known names, it has been on my list to visit for many years, so I finally booked a visit to The Ivy, Chelsea Garden!
Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our table, I personally love the idea of being greeted at the door and shown to your designated table, its touches like this that make you feel as if they go the extra mile for your visit.

Myself and Sarah both perused the menus, some beautiful treats were laid out before our eyes and I truly found it hard to choose what to go for, ever the cake connoisseur, I of course settled on the 'Ivy, Afternoon Tea".
Priced at £19.75, I thought this was absolutely incredible, especially for the area in which the restaurant is situated, and in comparison to other places I have eaten at, however it is only served between 3-5pm so do bear that in mind if you are planning a trip there and have a time frame!

Served upon perfectly quaint silverware, the afternoon tea offers some delectable little savouries, namely the truffled chicken brioche, which was absolutely incredible and I could have devoured many of these, the smoked salmon, cream and chive on rye bread was also heavenly, however a very strong flavour so 100% pack some breath mints in your handbag that day ;)
Onto the sweet treats, the warm fruited scones were literally pure heaven, they came with fresh strawberries, cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve, you could tell they were freshly baked with each person ordering, as they were still warm when I finally got around to eating them.
Among the scones we were served a fresh raspberry cheesecake, a chocolate and salted caramel mousse, also heavenly and incredibly lightweight (these would be dangerous if placed in my fridge as you almost feel as if you are eating delicate chocolate air.. calorific, delicate chocolate air mind).
Lastly, a creme brûlée doughnut, again very lightweight and easy on the lips!

Served with a selection of teas, infusions and coffees you are spoilt for choice, however a downfall is that you only had one choice of hot drink with the food, a shame as I felt like I could've sampled many different flavours and admittedly I have never come across this within other restaurants serving afternoon tea, namely the Sanderson, here you can choose from an array of teas and are unlimited to your hearts tea drinking content.
That being said, The Ivy Afternoon Blend was absolutely delicious, I would've just preferred slightly a little more.

Upon writing this review I felt impelled to explain something, the food at The Ivy is absolutely beautiful, you cannot possibly fault it, and if I was writing a review solely on the food I would rate it highly.
However, my recollection of the visit was left with a sour taste, the restaurant service is incredibly slow and poor, I felt as if the tables were overbooked and the staff over worked.
It seemingly has a very relaxed vibe as you walk through the doors and this is very quickly diminished by the wait time to finally be served from your tables, don't get me wrong the staff weren't in anyway rude, just inattentive.

For the food alone, this place is definitely worth a try, just bare in mind if you are there for a relaxed casual dining setting then this will be perfect for you as the ambience is very relaxed, however if you are there for a lunch meeting, or to simply dine and leave then you may be there for a little longer than you bargained for!
I would definitely reconsider visiting again, however this time I think I would order a meal from the dining selection of the menu as I did find myself eyeing up many of the other tables around me, the steaks looked absolutely divine so I may give it one more shot in the future, however for now I would be happy to try out somewhere slightly different in London for more afternoon tea style lunches, than The Ivy.

monogrammed

Monogramming has always been a huge love of mine, I love little personal touches to those intricate items you own, I love adding the last detailing to something I cherish, and something else I love.. Aspinal!

Aspinal of London has always been my go to brand if I want that little piece of luxury without having to break the bank to do so, but at the same time feels super luxurious and really make a statement
I own everything from bags, to ipad cases & makeup bags from the brand and i'm never failed by the quality and workmanship, the leathers are by far some of the best I have felt and they stand the test of time, I have owned my card holder for around four years now and it still looks as pristeen as the first day I purchased it.

Stumbling into Selfridges one afternoon I came across the Aspinal department, and noticed they had a monogramming service, this is something I have been wanting to add to my pieces for a while so whilst I was in London I decided to get my card holder personalised with my initials, and whilst i was browsing I came across the beautiful beige saffiano leather luggage tags, which I decided to also have personalised as i was there with mine and Samuels initials.

The process is really easy and quite educating to watch, its all done on an old fashioned machine which stamps the product using pressure to begin with, and then using the colour you have chosen, a foil is applied to the underneath of the stamp and then pressure reapplied to the same area which therefore pushes the foil into the previously stamped area leaving you with your selected monogram.

It costs £15 per product to be monogrammed which I personally feel is a little steep per product, especially if you shop in stores like Louis Vuitton where mongramming is free, but nether the less I was happy to pay for it when I know they look so beautiful and it means I have my own personalised items at the end of it.

I am so happy with the end result, I think they look amazing and it is definitely something I would reccommend if your looking for something that extra special for yourself, or for a gift for someone else, next on my list is a monogrammed diary..

Have you ever had anything monogrammed before, or own anything from Aspinal, as I said before I love there products so would love to hear any of your reccomendations?

Lots of Love, Frankie xo

The Candle Series .. Neom - Sicilian Lime and Fresh Basil

Is it possible to love a scent so much you acquire the mini size and the next day go out and purchase the larger one, well I did and I'm not sorry!

Housed in newly redesigned packaging, the new scents from Neom are to die for, Sicilian Lemon and Fresh Basil is exactly that, fresh, citrusy goodness and I can't stop lighting it!

I picked these up for two reasons:
1 the fact that it's a lemon candle is just me to a T.
2 the nature behind this candle being aimed at aiding stress relief, mental fatigue and encourage clear thinking, definitely some attributes I've had recently and relaxation is something I'm desperately seeking!

The scent is just so inviting, and literally feels the whole of my house within 30 minutes or so, now I'm someone who loves a candle to be smelt everywhere in the house, I have no time for spending money on something that smells good in the jar but not noticed outside of that, complete waste of beautiful scent in my eyes!

"Sun baked lemons, picked at the perfect moment of ripeness from the lush branches of the trees from a Sicilian lemon grove. Coupled with clean, fresh basil, this is a pure, energising scent."

I also love the simplicity of the redesign of the Neom brand, it's much more sleek and crisp now, before you had glass candles with neom transfer in gold, I feel the new look is much more me and this definitely aided my buying of two candles, bad for my bank balance, good for Neom's branding team!

I love the fact they come in a frosted white solid jar, you could keep these when there finished with and use them to keep flowers in, (sneaky one in the background from an old Yankee Candle with my peonies in) or for jewellery, sweets or little sample perfumes :)

Maintaining your candle is definitely key to maximising the burn time with these candles, always trim your wick and make sure you burn them until the top layer is completely even to ensure even wear throughout the life of the candle, burn for a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 4!
More on candle maintenance in a post coming up soon (who knew candle maintenance was a thing? Show of hands!)

Neom as a brand are fast becoming one of my favourite brands of candles, although I could possibly say that every time I purchase one from somewhere else haha!
The reason I really like Neom is due to the fact they are pure natural vegetable wax and 100% natural fragrance! now don't get me wrong im not a green peace fanatic but I do like the idea of burning natural scents around the home.

They are made up of 30-40ml of pure essentials oils and work to change your mood as they fill the air with scent when you breath it in, so breathing in natural oils make me satisfied I won't be breathing in any nasty chemicals or fragrances!

I'm super happy I picked these up and couldn't be more happy that I've finally dipped my toes into the Neom pond, I will be adding more and more to my ever growing candle collection very soon, so if you have any recommendations let me no in the comment box below, I love hearing from you all!

Lots of love, Frankie x

Chanel - Soleil Tan De Chanel

Evening my lovelies. Hope your all well, the past few days have been busy ones, shopping in London over the weekend and back to work after a long and lovely 8 days off!

My recent shopping trip found me adding some new beauties to my collection, I've actually just uploaded a haul on my YouTube channel of the bits I picked up, but today I'm bringing you one of the special pieces I picked up, a product I've been lusting after for a long time now, that being the Chanel - Soleil Tan De Chanel!

The beautiful packaging is just where the love for this product begins, housed in a gorgeous solid tub with the classic black lid and chanel gold engravings, this looks beautiful on show on my makeup table!

The product inside is just a dream to use, lightweight but pigmented, this glides into the skin effortlessly, while you do need to buff this in thoroughly, once blended its creates the perfect faux glow, perfect for a pale skinned girl like me.

I adore the finish on the skin this product gives me, a few days in the sun is now no longer needed as this gives the appearance of having been on holiday, you know those first few days where your just starting to tan and everything you put on seems as if it looks much better, yea that does this!

The first time I applied this I had a few compliments on how healthy my skin looked and the old "have you been on holiday" was snuck in there too!
I actually used this as a base for my foundation to sit on top off and it works like a dream, my makeup actually lasted a whole lot longer than usual so I would go as far as saying you could use this as your daily primer too!

To proclaim my love to this once more. I'm actually obsessed with this product, I rarely throw that out there so for me that's a big deal. I thought I loved my Boujouis dupe but hell no, compared to this I'll quite happily ditch any bronzer for this any day!

I really hope you enjoyed this post, and don't forget to take a peak at my London Haul video over on YouTube search Frankie Boo for my channel and I'd love for you too subscribe and leave me a comment saying your popping over from the blog!

Lots of love, Frankie x
